Through a purple haze

I am excited to be taking a five week workshop class at ICP taught by Palmer Davis called, “Inspiration, Insight and The Creative Process: The Expanded Vision.”

Palmer describes the course as one where, as a group we will focus on “aesthetic and conceptual concerns and…move beyond [our] comfort zones to discover new artistic directions.”

For our first class we explored the role and use of color.  Palmer talked about how as humans we see in color instinctively, while as photographers seeing in color is a learned art.

Our assignment was to let color lead us in creating images over the course of the week.

Here is a series of images I created following a purple haze on the west side of Manhattan.
